Non-Travel Tryouts in February
Quick Facts
- Free unlimited individual instruction and group instruction to anyone in the program.
- We offer free clinics to CYO, Travel, Rec., School team, etc. programs throughout the winter (for any age, although it mostly applies to 1st-8th graders).
- We have instructors come in and run clinics for everyone in the program. In the past, some of the instructors we had were Kent Culuko (IYB), Billy Armstrong (Hoop Dreamz), Coach Green (Nothing But Skillz), Coach Jamie Lankelis (strength training and conditioning), Coach Noel Matos (Rivervale Ravens), Marcel Arribi (shooting instructor), Hoop Zone Boot Camp (Danny Brown), and several local high school coaches... Big surprises to see who is coming for our Spring 2010 season!
- Our spring season: 2 practices a week plus 2 optional practices a week.
- The optional practices focus on skill-work as well as conditioning, endurance, speed, and velocity. We use many state-of-the-art training equipment to help the players, such as the Vertimax (www.vertimax.com). The equipment we have was chosen by the players over the years and if there is anything we do not have, that they feel they need, we are willing to fundraise to order it.
- In the spring the teams participate in 8-15 tournaments. The high school teams primarily enter college-exposure tournaments. In the fall we enter the West Orange Varsity League (for 8th graders and under we enter local teams for both the fall and winter).
- We have been fundraising year-round in preparation for our spring season. We are aiming for the cheapest tuition of any program in the area, although we have never turned a player away due to financial reasons. If there is anyone who cannot afford tuition, she can participate in fundraisers and we will work on sponsorships for her. Currently none of our travel teams have a tuition over $400. Our non-travel do not have a tuition over $150.
- We create our own player profile books complete with academic and athletic achievements and basketball statistics (we keep the stats from every game) to send to colleges, scouting services, etc. We also video tape the games for anyone who requests tapes.
