Believe it or not it is that time of year again. The first league meeting of the North/West
Bergen /Passaic Girl’s Basketball League (NWBP) will be held on Monday, October 27, 2008 at the Oakland Valley Middle School Cafeteria at 7:00 p.m.
Please bring a check payable to NWBP Girls Basketball League for $1,050 per team being entered. (A minimum of two teams must be entered from each town. Single teams will only be accepted as needed to complete a division. An additional fee of $100 will be charged for towns with only one team). The league will continue to use referee assignors. The league fee includes league registration, website, All-Star game for two players per team, referee fees for league and playoff games, assignor fees and playoff trophies. Full payment or town purchase order must be received no later than December 19, 2008. A late fee of $25 per team will be assessed for any payments received after this date.
If you do not yet know game dates and/or coaches’ information just indicate contact person and how many teams you wish to register. (Completed registration forms must be received by November 17, 2007.) Last year the league had a total of 120 teams. (20 teams in the 3/4th8 ½ ft basket grade, 21 teams in the 5th grade league, 33 teams in the 5/6th grade league, 17 teams in a 7th grade league and 33 teams in the 8th grade league.)
Directions to Oakland Middle School: Route 208 North to Exit #58 Route 202 Oakland. Proceed to traffic light at bottom of exit and make a left onto 202 South. Go two traffic lights and make right onto Oak Street. Go to second left into parking lot in front of school. Cafeteria is on left side of entrance. (From Wayne take 202 North to Oak St. and make left onto Oak St.)
If you know of any other team that might wish to join the league please give them my telephone number or email address. The league is filling up fast. Priority given to towns with more than one team and payment received on time.
League Format
The North/West Bergen/Passiac Girls Basketball (NWBP) Leagues provides an organized league format for girls to play in a competitive environment against girls in over 38 communities.
The NWBP offers leagues at every grade level from 4th to 8th grade. The league consists of 116 teams divided among the following five divisions:
The 2008/2009 season is scheduled to start the weekend of December 6, 2008. All teams play a 14-16 game schedule. The top four teams from each division make the playoffs which are scheduled to begin the week of March 2, 2009. Trophies are awarded to the playoff winner and play off runner-up.
Registration fee is $1,050 for 2007/2008 season.
